- Karlitz, Avraham Yeshayahu (Hazon Ish)
- (1878-1953)Israeli rabbi and codifier, of Russian origin. He was born in the province of Grodno and lived in Vilna. Later he settled at Bene Berak in Palestine, where he founded a yeshivah. Writing under the name Hazon Ish, he became one of the most important modern codifiers.
